Hope everyone of you fellow caregivers had a very blessed Thanksgiving!
This day invites us to truly count our blessings, which, although we know our life can be very challenging, we also know our Lord always watches over us, guiding us and filling us with renewed strength, patience and hope every day so we can keep fulfilling our purpose.
May He continue blessing us abundantly with His generous love!

I had written a post and was ready to post it and then , Ahhhh, I don't know what happened it got erased. Probably for the best. It is pretty symbolic of how I have spent the last couple of weeks.
So.... rather than try and recreate it, as I am too emotionally and physically tired, I will just say, I hope all my fellow caregivers have maintained this day and that you have a good evening/night.

Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.

LL- thank you for your love and encouragement.
Mom had me worried the last couple of days. She was not feeling well. Not really wanting to eat and she loves to eat. I got really concerned when she did not even want any of her usual sweets. I believe today she had a slight fever, but sweated it out and then she finally ate a small dinner and had a sweet treat. So I am hopeful she is feeling better whatever was ailing her. She said she is feeling better, so I am glad and thank the Lord.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Smeshque: I am glad that your mom is better. Today I had a cortico steroid injection in my left inflammed rotator cuff. Immediately upon leaving his office, my left arm felt stroke-like. So I called back, but it was signficantly improved in an hour and a half. Thank goodness. On my way, I saw my friend skating along with her leashed doggie. She didn't need a ride and was on her way. (She's in her 40s.).

Dear Smesh, I haven't read all the posts, so I am responding to your question. Jesus said to love your neighbour as yourself. He didn't say to love your neighbour better than yourself. You should not be 'putting yourself aside'. Looking after yourself helps to keep yourself able to care for your neighbour. Jesus is the only martyr we need. You don't need to compete. Love, Margaret

Thank you Margaret. Since posting my question a while back. I have learned I must take care of myself, in order to be able to take care of others. Putting it into practice is easier said than done. But, I know the importance now of self care, in order to truly care.
God is good!

Yes, one must take care of themself first and foremost, else they'll be good to no one, falling faint and ill.

Today was a nice day. I thank the Lord for his mercies this day. It was not such a struggling day as many of them.
I hope all of you Caregivers are doing okay!!
May God bless you and strengthen you and comfort you.

The thing is, the secular world can't save you. And we are living in the times where we are going to be tempted to turn away from God. Sister please stay in prayer and asked for continued strength. Keep the faith and trust and follow God's word. Life can be challenging and hard, but He said He will never leave or forsake you. Trust Him. He loves you and knows your pain. Just wait for Him.

The cold weather has been hard on Mom. Makes her stiff as she says. And kind of blah. I keep trying to think of ways to help her out. I am going to make a walking path on the outer edge inside the greenhouse, so that at least we can continue walking even through winter, maybe that will help,
We had a good day today. Red was doing a lot better, dealing with his grief. You can see that he is healing some.
My DH preached this morning, it was a good lesson on being a soldier in the Lord's army. And tonight was on influence and how we influence others good or bad.
One of our members had a flat tire this morning and she called early, so we picked her up for church. I thought this is a good time for my Mom and her to talk, they are both widows about a year apart in their losses. But, my Dear Sweet Mom just talked her ear off and the lady could barely get a word in, But, that's my Mom and I love her. I just felt so bad for the lady, maybe she didn't mind, she is a much quieter lady kind of like me, so maybe she prefers to listen, I so hope.

Hope all my fellow caregivers have a good evening.

As anyone who’s ever been wowed by a speech or surprised by a bumper sticker knows, inspirational quotes come in all shapes and sizes and cover every possible topic. The challenges we face every day as caregivers are shared challenges that other people have gone through and are going through.

For caregivers, the best and most meaningful quotes cover a wide range of things, but whether the topic is love, patience, fear, courage, or compassion, the wisest words tend to point to one particularly important truth: that we are not alone.
This is relevant for all caregivers, and perhaps especially so for those taking care of someone with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia, since the experience of caring for someone who is no longer themselves can make you feel very isolated and alone. Below, please find a selection of quotes that we find particularly relevant for caregivers, along with some inspirational words posted to our Facebook page by caregivers who deal with the same challenges we all do.
On Compassion:
1. “Compassion brings us to a stop, and for a moment we rise above ourselves.”
— Mason Cooley
2. “Compassion automatically invites you to relate with people because you no longer regard people as a drain on your energy.”
— Chogyam Trungpa
On Positive Attitude:
3. “If you can’t change your fate, change your attitude.”
― Amy Tan
4. “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the things which you think you cannot do.”
— Eleanor Roosevelt
5. “Although the days are busy and the workload is always growing, there are still those special moments when someone says or does something and you know you’ve made a difference in someone’s life. That’s why I became a nurse.”
— Diane McKenty
6. “Be determined to handle any challenge in a way that will make you grow.”
— Les Brown
7. “Forgiveness is not an occasional act: it is an attitude.”
— Martin Luther King Jr.
8. “Some days there won’t be a song in your heart. Sing anyway.”
— Emory Austin

Believing Caregivers-
As I come to the end of the journey of caregiving and watching my mother dying the verse that has hit my heart the most is just how very much we should love each other. Lavishly. I know its not always easy. Believe me, every day lately has seemed like a test. and suddenly, just as quickly as it began, 8 years later it is suddenly ending. No regrets my friends. We are human, We are all works in progress. May God richly bless you all.

Dear Annie,

May you feel the warm embrace of God’s love during this very hard and trying time, and feel the blessing of being able to be there for your mom and let her feel your love specially now. This is a gift Annie, although hard to think about it this way, it is a gift to be there for a parent when they need us the most.
And yes, it is so simple, yet so hard, right? “Love one another as I have loved you”. If we were able to really do that the world would be so different!

May God bless you and your mom, always!

Sometimes you can't understand others completely, simply because you haven't walked a mile in their shoes.
Understand that you do your best under the guidance and love of God to the best of your ability. That you work to change the things you are able to change, and accept the things you can't.
Focus on you doing your best everyday, and nothing secular matters to you if there is nothing you can do to help change it.
