Strange! Rocky, the ginger cat, loves butternut squash added to her wet food. I found frozen cubes of butternut squash and just nuke them then mash them up with the wet food. No sparks. I wonder if she would like carrots too.She likes a bit of lettuce as well. No weight issue there, the veggies keep the fur balls down,

Need it was new for me too, i have been giving her carrots for a year and this just started! I steam them, then dump out the water, and reheat them later. Maybe the new baby carrots I've been buying are more nutritious? She was getting towards being a "puddgy Pug" so we began adding vegies to her evening meal. She loves them,, and watermelon too!

well I had a situation for the last few weeks, that I had to look up on the internet today. I feel my puppers steamed carrots along with her dry food. I steam a bit at a time and rewarm it when she eats, and lately some of the time it catches fire/sparks in the microwave! What the heck is this? Seems its not uncommon, and I just need to add a bit more water when I reheat it! It is from the minerals in the carrots.. What next? I also give her green beans, dump the can and rinse them off, then give her a handfull. They have never sparked.

Barq’s is an excellent choice because it isn’t overly sweet. It has a unique flavor.

Cwillie, I cook my pork in Barq’s with fresh ground pepper and garlic. I do find some root beers a bit sweet. A splash of lemon juice or vinegar helps.

I make a great pulled pork , mashed potatoes , corn bread and a salad every year for my kids’ birthdays . Their birthdays are 7 days apart so we celebrate both at one meal .

Pulled pork is fantastic in a crockpot. You could make bbq pulled pork sandwiches.

Chuck roast is also great in a crockpot. You can do roast beef sandwiches. Or do either rice or mashed potatoes with vegetables or a salad for a complete meal.

You can also make chicken breasts in the crockpot. Season chicken with taco seasoning and one can of diced tomatoes and onions for a Mexican dinner. Go to spendwithpennies.com for the recipe. Create a taco bar!

Any one have crock pot dinner ideas for about 10 people, I could use some.

Once a month I have to make a meal for are boccie group. Last year I made manwichices but I know one doesn't like them. Made a beef stew once to. Anything with noodles gets to mushy. So if you all have any suggestions let me know

Your hubby is a good cook! Glad you enjoyed your dinner. I love old fashioned, tried and true recipes.

Some of my favorite cookbooks are ones that I have bought from women at churches, with recipes from moms and grandmothers.

I have participated in lots of fundraisers for church and school fairs.

These cookbooks always sell out! They use ingredients that everyone stocks in their pantry that are budget friendly and delicious!

River, I love Swiss steak! My hubby makes it and it is so delicious; freshly made, as leftovers and my all time favorite, served in a hollowed out dinner roll as an on the go meal.

I think I am going to request a batch this weekend. 😋

My husband made Swiss steak. Are any here familiar with that? He pounded top round steaks with a mallet and dredge them in flour. He cooked them with onions,mushrooms and tomatoes. Then all of that in an iron skillet went into the oven for 1 hour. His mother used to make it. It's a real comfort dish that transports one back in time. A bit time consuming but it was a nice change. We had it with peas and he had farro too. Thankfully he is an expert with cleaning and then seasoning the iron skillet. I never go near it.

Last night, cauliflower cheese with a very thick cheesy crust and spicy meat balls in a tomato persimmon sauce which R canned.

He likes making juices and preserves and will stop at a house if they have a good fruit tree or bushes with fruit dropping off and ask if he can pick some. Usually they are happy for him to take fruit. He's gotten apples, pears, cherries, saskatoons, and more. He makes a lovely apple cinnamon juice with a little cayenne in it, chokecherry juice which he likes on French Toast and various preserves. The tomato persimmon sauce is just lovely!

I am hands on too. Plus, I feel that I learn by doing things.

My husband’s ways have rubbed off on me a little bit. Or, at least I am trying to explore his ways.

He is the type to read an entire manual, plus watch any video demonstrations before using a product.

I on the other hand, have been known to just jump right in and fly by the seat of my pants.

Guess who figures things out first, most of the time?

My husband does, of course! Okay, I admit that I can get overly excited sometimes and be a little impatient! LOL 😝

Like most people, my husband and I have our similarities and our differences.

I like dessert served right out of the oven. He will allow them to cool before eating.

The girls will tell him, “What’s the point of eating chocolate chip cookies cold?

Then, he tells them that I taught them bad habits! He’s much more patient and methodical than I am.

Need, I am hands on for kitchen tools. I need to see the actual results, it is part of what I love about cooking, figuring it out.

But, the tutorial is a good idea.
