Medicare will not pay for a bed temporarily. You must fit a certain criteria to have them pay.

Call your local firehouse and see if they lend beds out. Redcross. Ruritans are a rural group that have lending sheds. You can rent them thru Durable Medical Equipment stores.

Yes, be careful. We have had people post that what was suppose to be helping ended up being expected. Like helping an elderly neighbor and then Dementia sets in and family thinks that the nice neighbor will continue helping Mom. Or there is no family at all. Just remember, if you feel that caring for this person becomes more than you are capable of, you contact the family. If they won't do anything or there is no family, you call Adult Protectson Services (APS) and have them take over.

Just want to give you a heads up, I would make sure to tell him this is temporary, his health my not be good in general, and want you to be sure you know what you're getting into.
