You could report it to APS and let them handle it.

If the POA is a sibling and the senior a parent, I may talk to a lawyer.

Yes, you can report them to the police for financial abuse of a vulnerable adult. The fact that they're POA adds to the severity of the crime.

Livinginsin, we really need for information. Such as, where does the senior live? If they live at home, are there caregivers that come in? Or does the senior live in a senior facility, is the senior self-pay or does Medicaid pay the bill?

It is extremely expensive to care for a senior. I remember back when my Dad had caregivers around the clock, it was costing him $20k per month, yes per month. My Mom was living in a nursing home and that was costing my Dad $12k per month.

Curious who is telling you that the Power of Attorney is using the money for their own bills?

Like I mentioned, more information would be very helpful :)

Livinginsin, as stated, more information is needed.

1. What specifically are the elements of financial abuse?

2. How do you know about this, and what documentation do you have to support these allegations?

3. You wrote "paying all their bills" - this infers that both the person and the senior's bills are being paid. Is this the situation, i.e., the relative is paying his/her bills as well from the senior's accounts?

4. is the senior living at home or in a facility? Are some of these bills for the living environment?

5. Very specifically, how do you know about this, and what documentation do you have to support the allegations?

6. Whether or not jail is in the picture depends on the specific crimes to be charged, the amount of funds, perhaps the local jurisdiction of police and then court adjudication.
