My 80 year old mother has dementia, my younger brother is her carer but he has no power of attorney. He has denied my elder sister access over a disagreement about my mother and has denied all of his sisters access at one time or another. He also goes out and gets drunk and leaves her with his so called friends. We so much want to get intouch with social services but we are very apprehensive and frightened about consequences. Any advice would be so helpful.

Find Care & Housing
I would get legal advice about my options and take some action. My mom's welfare would be my primary concern.

What have the social services said? Have you gone to APS? If not, I would go to APS and tell them what you know about your brother and what is going on with your mother. I would also consult a lawyer to protect yourself from him and also to see what you can to with protecting your mother. Leaving your mother with your brother's so called friends while going out to get hammered is bad news from miles away. Who knows what they are doing.
