My wife has demential and it's getting worse. I have a memory care facility selected, but I'm not sure how to make that final decision to move her to the facility.

Find Care & Housing
You have to ask (and be honest) with yourself: are you physically/mentally/emotionally exhausted? Feel overwhelmed? Depressed? Your own health being neglected or becoming negatively affected? Lack social life a lot or completely, or fullness of your own life and things that bring you peace and joy?

I don't think you need to worry about a right or wrong time for her placement. As long as you keep an eye on the quality of her care wherever she goes, I don't think it matters when. I realize this may feel like a difficult/guilt-infused decision for you, but in reality you're not doing anything morally wrong/bad. Do what helps YOU. Your wife will be ok whether she goes in tomorrow or 3 months from now. May you receive total peace in your heart whatever you decide.

The "right" time is when her care has exceeded your abilities. You can visit your wife in Memory Care daily and go back to being her loving husband again instead of her exhausted and burned out caregiver.

Good luck to you.
