I was thinking about moving my mom into a new facility that I found, and I was going to do a second tour on Tuesday. Here is the issue, I went on this licensing and regulatory affairs website and found that there was an investigation done on this facility, because an anonymous caller filed a complaint. This occurred about 10 months ago.
The complaints were:
Staff having inappropriate relations with each other at night.
Vape pens and marijuana being used on the premises by staff.
A homeless employee living on the premises.
When a resident passes the staff are taking the prescription medications home.
The only violation that was found was the medications were in an unlocked office. The other complaints, there was not enough evidence/information found so no violations were established.
To me these are all very concerning allegations and I don’t know who made them and why.
If you were me would you avoid this place??

Honestly I'm not going to say either way, because I'm not sure. I feel what matters most is where the people treated good?!?!

I worked in a hotel doing breakfast for a while. After seeing what I saw going on there, I feel that any job where there are beds gives people thoughts of places they shouldn't go to in a work place situation.

As for the vape pens and weed, I think that your going to find it every place, probably more so in some than others.

The miss handling of meds is what is the most disturbing to me.oh and the homeless employee thing, that's just wrong

Anonymous allegations in this day and age are quite common.
Because this is a care facility ALL allegations must be taken very seriously.
It IS of concern if medications that are controlled are not under lock, key and signout.
I would see if that is remedied.
Other than that I may discuss with admin when you meet with them.
Disgruntled families and former workers are common in this area of practice. I don't know if you are researching other facilities to compare, but would be surprised if you don't find SOMETHING at any of them.
If I did due diligence in every other aspect, no, this would not stop me.

Ask the Director about the complaint. It all seems bogus to me. Maybe a fired employee out for vengence.

How does the person putting in the complaint know staff is fooling around at night. Residents do make up things.

Am surprised that medications were not locked up. As how that was corrected.

When a resident passes, I would think there is a protocol in how the meds are destroyed. Only an RN, LPN or Medtech should be handling meds.

I would also think that staff members are regularly tested for drugs.
